Celebrating 30 Years of Dance: Join Us This Fall!

We’re so excited to celebrate a huge milestone—30 years of Shapes Dance and Acro Studio! It’s been an amazing journey since we first opened our doors in a small quonset building in Carrollton, MO, back in 1995. From those humble beginnings, we’ve grown to four studios in Carrollton, Richmond, Marshall, and Concordia, serving children in rural Missouri. Over the past three decades, more than 5,000 kids and their families have been part of our dance family, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Our Journey

Our story began with a simple dream: to bring quality dance education to our community. Starting in a small building in Carrollton, we’ve grown into a thriving community of dancers, thanks to our passion for dance and dedication to our students. Now, with four studios, we continue to be a place where creativity and joy flourish.

Our Mission: Dance Skills Teach Life Skills

At Shapes Dance and Acro Studio, we believe that dance is more than just steps and routines. It’s about learning life skills that help kids grow into confident, disciplined, and resilient adults. While some of our students go on to become professional dancers, most take the lessons they learn here and apply them to all areas of their lives.

Celebrating Our Amazing Team

We’re super proud that over 90% of our teachers started as students in our studios. It’s pretty special to see our dancers grow up and come full circle to teach the next generation. This isn’t just a job for them—it’s a passion. They know our culture inside and out and bring that same enthusiasm and dedication to their classes.

Our teachers are the heartbeat of Shapes Dance and Acro Studio. They get it—they’ve been in the shoes (or should we say, dance shoes) of our students. They understand the journey, from the first plié to the final bow, and they’re there to support every step of the way.

What makes our team truly amazing is their personal connection to the studio. They’ve experienced the supportive community, the excitement of performances, and the joy of dancing with friends. Now, they’re passing that on to your kids, creating a warm, encouraging environment where everyone feels like part of the family.

How Dance Benefits Kids

Dance is great for kids in so many ways, both physically and mentally. Here are just a few benefits:

  • Physical Development: Improves coordination, strength, flexibility, and overall fitness.

  • Mental Well-being: Boosts self-esteem, reduces stress, and encourages emotional expression.

  • Social Skills: Promotes teamwork, communication, and a sense of belonging.

  • Discipline and Focus: Teaches perseverance, goal-setting, and time management.

  • Creative Expression: Fosters creativity and self-expression through movement.

Our 30-Year Celebration: What’s New!

To mark our 30th anniversary, we’re rolling out some exciting updates and new programs:

  • Tumbling and Trampoline Programs: Adding more fun to our acrobatic classes with mini-tramp and full trampoline skills and tricks.

  • 8-Week Sessions: Perfect for those wanting to try dance for the first time or looking for a shorter commitment.

  • Little Stars Boutique: Offered in our Marshall studio, this full concierge boutique dance class experience focuses on ages 2-9 for ballet, tap, jazz, cheer, hip- hop and acro.

  • Taking Shape Star Leadership Classes: Created by our founder, Tracey Wozny, this program focuses on building character and leadership through dance and a prerequisite to be a teaching assistant at the studio.

Throughout the year, we’ll have special events, performances, and lots of opportunities to celebrate together. It’s the perfect time to join our dance family and see what we’re all about.
